last week

So last week I don't really remember what I did. The most I remember was launching rockets on thursday and that is about it. It was pretty fun launching the rockets, I launched my rocket and for some reason it started spinning out of control then fly in the other direction. It was pretty cool to see that happen and not blow up at the end. I wish somebody recorded that launch. Well that is all for this week.

The week of nothing

The past week I haven't really done anything. I have made a card but that didn't take long and then when that was done I had nothing to do. Now I am just writing this and after this I will just look for something to do again. Then when I find that I probably won't do it until I'm really bored. When I work on it I wont finish it because I won't have enough time.

Rockets

So this past week I have been working on a rocket. I chose to do the Alpha, it was pretty easy to build. Even though for some reason we had to sand some things which made no sense. Other than that it was really easy. After we put it together I painted the rocket, it looked nice until Jason told me that the white was clear coat. It wasn't clear coat it was just white, so now I have to repaint it.

Hovercrafts

In the past week we have been making hovercrafts. I have been doing it with Austin, Logan, and Kyle. We changed the original design because it didn't look like it worked. Our new design works but its a bit heavy on one side. Even though its not balanced it still works, but nothing is really connected.  Then today i even made my own little one. Its not that good but it makes a good fan. I also figured out that the fan blades hurt if you shove your finger in it.  (but it was still funny)

Kites

This last week we have been doing kites. I was gone for a day so I didn't have much time to find a design. After a while of searching I finally found one. At first it looked like it was going to be complicated, but it turned out it was a really simple design. It was called a sled kite. The hardest parts was trying to get the cuts lined up so it matched. That was pretty much it for last week and I shall have more stuff to talk about next week.

Flight

In the last week we started to make paper airplanes. I made a couple of good planes that flew really well. The only bad part was that none of them would work during the competition. One of them had amazing hang time, but it didn't want to work when I wanted it to do. I tried making a plane that would work amazing but it was to hard to make. Actually most of the good planes I found it was really hard to do all the folds on them. So I guess thats why they are supposed to be really good. At the actually competition my planes didn't do that good. When the planes decided to work the competition was already over. Well thats it for this week so I'll see you next week.

Child Labor For Free!!!

So this last week we have been trying to raise money for project make. I couldnt find anything to do so i searched the back room to find something. I found a lot of stuff from computer parts to air freshener. I even found some old vcr tapes. The funniest thing I found was vrc tapes that taught you how to read. I dont know why but I thought that was really funny. Other than that there wasn't much in there. I did find a bunch of cassettes, a lot of them were from the 80s and 90s. I never heard of any of the bands before and I would've listened to one of them but I couldn't find a tape player. That was pretty much for this week. I'm still looking for something to make so I can make the class some money.

My robot adventures

So last week Kyle and I got to program a little robot. It was fun for a while but after a day or two our robot became stupid. At first it would take a while to get it to work, but after a while it stopped working all together. It went like this for almost the whole period. Then Ms. Smith took it for a couple of minutes and when she brought it back it worked again. After I got it back it was pretty fun. But I still think that the robot was sexist. Programming

The last couple of weeks we have been programming a bunch of different things. So far I've done a lot of things. I have made a keyboard, a display screen, and I even got it to play music. The ones that i liked the best had to be the liquid crystal group. In that one you use a little display screen. All of them are the same in the group but the code is just different. I was even able to make my own character on it. It was a little man that would move his arms up and down. That was all for this week so I'll see you next week.

Solder

Last week we started to solder random things together. It was pretty easy but I’m pretty sure we are going to get cancer from the fumes. I also figured out that it kind of hurts when the solder gets on you. The only thing we really made so far was just a simple little badge. It was pretty easy but now I’m working on a different project. I don’t know what it’s called but so far its easy, but it might get hard later when we get farther into the project. What I really want to do is to program something. That was the main reason I’m in this class. So I’m hoping we start doing that soon.

Circuit Boards

Since last semester we have been working on electronics. A lot of the stuff is easy but then some of the stuff is hard. The hardest things has to be the improved organ. It was mostly the fact that there was a lot of wires we had to plug in and my fingers would get in the way. Then when we did stuff with the leds it made it a lot easier if we compressed everything together. We would probably be all done but whenever we need something to get checked of Ms.Smith is always with somebody else for a while so it takes a while for us to get it checked off. That is pretty much it for now we only have a couple of things left so I'm going to be happy when its done.

Electronics

       In the last week we have been learning how electronics work and even building our own. I have made many things from light switches to speakers. We mostly just build simple things that aren't that hard to make. The hardest thing if anything is keeping track of the flow of electricity. The thing I liked most about it was when I hooked up a nob to a speaker and was able to turn up the sound and down the sound as well as dimming a light. That was it for now hopefully I learn more things.

123 Design Continue

                  I have recently been working on my 3D design. I talked about it in my last post so this isn't much new that I've done. They only thing that i really did since the last post was just add some towers to the castle. I also changed some of the materials on it as well. I was only here two days last week because so I missed the last day to really work on it. I was also thinking of making some more stickers as well, but I still don't know what Im going to make yet.

Making my castle

For the past week I've been working on a 3D design. My 3D design is going to be a castle. Right now I only have the wall and the main building. I still need to add some color to it and then I need to decorate the main building and then I should be done with it. The whole idea sounds pretty cool since it prints it out 3D. It can also be made out of a lot of stuff but it can't be made out of metal. There is also pre made stuff to that you can select. Then all you have to do is put it together and then you can change the color if you want to as well.

last couple weeks

In the last couple of weeks I've just been working on finishing my stickers. I have just finished today so I am now done. I've pretty much just been trying to find stuff for my stickers, but since I'm done I'm just going to finish my hydraulic judo bot. When it's done I'm going to make mine fight Craig's. Since me and Craig have been working on it together they are pretty much the same. The only difference is that mine is heavier so mine would win because of the weight. So that has pretty much been the last couple of weeks.

Sickers

 In the last couple of weeks we have been doing stickers. I have only made a couple of them because I'm not that good at making them. I only have four but they're not that bad, but they're not great. I found out that it is a lot easier if you use a mouse instead of the track pad. It is also hard trying to find a picture that works when you convert it. A lot of the time the pictures don't come out they you want them. But I still found out a lot of new things that I can do on the program. Its fun to just mess around some times with the tools. That is actually how I came up with one of my stickers. I just need to do a little more on them and then I can finally print them out and start working on my judo bot again.

hydraulic judo bots

Since my last post I've been working on hydraulic judo bots. I am almost done with it all I need to do now is to attache the hydraulics to it and I'm done. So far I have built the base with plenty of support. Then I have also built the frame and the support that will hold the arm. The last thing I built was the arm. The whole thing is built out of Popsicle sticks and a few other things.

As you can see in it is almost done I just need to attache the arm. Then the hydraulics to it and I should be done. When I'm done I'm going to be using this bot to fight with Craig's bot.

rube goldburg cont...

This week we continued to work on our rube goldburg machines. We were almost done when the whole thing fell of the table. We only needed to add the catapult and we would be done.   


This was the catapult that we had it was a little sensitive but it worked. Th rest of it worked we just had one more part to put on.








This was the our project. We needed a lot of support because it was top heavy. It still wasn't that bad it just needed support that we had.

rube goldberg machine

We have recently started making rube goldberg machines. I'm in a group so I am only doing part of it. My part is to make the beginning of it so I'm using an incline plane to hit a lever that will push a ball to go in a tube. After that my group member chris will make a pendulum that will hit a candle and burn the string to hit a ball. After that connor is making a wheel that will catch the ball, rotate the drop the ball which will hit the catapult.
